If the general belief is that Houndoom are heartless and brutish creatures that enjoy causing pain, O'Leary's quick to prove that stereotype completely wrong.  Always seen walking the streets of Lively Town wearing her favorite hat and locket, and greeting those she meets with a friendly smile, she's generally considered a kind individual who's more than willing to help someone in need.  If she were to find you in a dark alley she would check to see if you're OK, comfort you if you're not, then take you to safety.  While normally a pacifist at heart, preferring to talk things out rather than fight, if push does come to shove, she'll always defend those that can't defend themselves.

Backstory: Most of her childhood was pretty uneventful.  However, her mother, who happened to be a former rescue team member told her the importance of helping those in need, and that the welfare of others takes priority over self.  Taking this advise to heart, when she evolved and left home, she made it a goal to help those in need wherever she found them.  While seemingly having no interest in joining a team herself, her actions have made a good impression on those around her.

One day while on her daily walk around town,  she happened across a teenage Eevee leaving one of the trains into town.  While the Eevee was initially scared of her at first, O'Leary eventually got her to drop her defenses and said her name was Mara, at that she came to the city cause she had nowhere else to go.  Taking pity on her, O'Leary managed to find a home for her and now visits her every evening to check on her well-being.

PS.  Fun fact is that she was inspired by a Houndoom that was a valuable asset to me in Pokemon X.  And her name is inspired by Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
